Cllr Hand-Davis is married to Lynda and they have recently celebrated their Ruby Wedding Anniversary. They have lived in Penistone since 1986 and both their sons attended Penistone Grammar School. Paul was an Inspector in South Yorkshire Police. Having completed 30 years service he retired in 2002. One of their sons is a soldier serving with the Royal Logistic Corps.

Paul and Lynda enjoy cooking, caravanning and travel when they are able to take a break.

As well as representing Penistone East on Barnsley Council, Paul has his own Gardening Business in the Penistone area. He was first elected on to the Council in May 2007. He has also been a member of Penistone Town Council since 2005 serving as Mayor of Penistone in 2007.

Representing a rural area, Paul sees his role as protecting and improving all that is best about our rural towns and villages and ensuring that our part of Barnsley gets a fair share of the cake. He has served on the Planning Board since being elected and is a Lead Member on a Scrutiny Task and Finish Group.

Paul represents Barnsley M.B.C. on the Local Government Association Rural Group and the Western Area Rural Transport Partnership
